What wedding videography costs in Boston, what drives the price, and exactly what our collections include — with real figures, not "packages from".

If you have started pricing wedding videographers in Boston, you have probably noticed how few of them publish a number. That is frustrating when you are trying to build a budget. So here is ours, in full, along with an explanation of what actually moves the price up or down.

Across the Boston market, most couples end up spending somewhere between $2,500 and $8,000 on wedding videography. That is a wide band, and where you land inside it comes down to four things: how many hours you need covered, how many videographers are filming, how long the finished film is, and how much of the day is edited start to finish rather than cut to music.

Memoir — $3,600

Memoir suits couples who want something short, beautiful and highly shareable. It is the collection most often chosen for smaller weddings, city hall ceremonies with a party afterwards, and celebrations where the day runs to a tight schedule.

Heirloom — $4,600

A 4-5 minute highlight film using both music and natural dialogue
4K Ultra High Definition
Drone and aerial establishing shots, where permitted
A start-to-finish edit of the ceremony, speeches and special dances

Heirloom is our most popular collection, and the difference is the second videographer. With two cameras you get reverse angles during the ceremony, reaction shots during speeches, and the ability to cover the two of you separately while you are getting ready. It also adds the full-length edit, so you keep your vows and toasts in their entirety rather than as clips.

Legacy — $5,600

Legacy is for couples who want the whole story told properly. The feature film is a narrative piece with room for the quieter moments — the letter read that morning, the grandparent who does not say much but says the right thing. You still get the short highlight for social media, so you are not choosing between the two.

What actually drives the cost

Hours of coverage

This is the biggest single factor. A ceremony and a couple of hours of reception costs meaningfully less than a day that starts with hair and makeup and ends with a sparkler exit. Most Boston weddings need eight to ten hours. If your ceremony and reception are at different venues, or there is a long gap between them, build in more.

Number of videographers

One videographer can cover a wedding well. Two changes what is possible. During the ceremony a second camera means you see the reaction as well as the moment. During speeches it means cutting between the person speaking and the people listening. If your ceremony is the part you most want to relive, the second shooter is where your money goes furthest.

Length and style of the final film

A three minute highlight and a twenty minute feature take very different amounts of editing. The highlight is a distillation; the feature is a narrative with structure, pacing and dialogue. Editing is the majority of the work on any wedding film, which is why film length affects price more than shoot length does.

Travel

We are based in Boston and film across New England without a travel charge — Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Newport and the Berkshires included. Further afield, we quote travel separately.

Add-ons

These can be added to any collection:

Instagram Clip — $150. A 60 second section lifted from your main highlight, cut for social.
Instagram Edit — $395. A 60 second highlight cut from scratch and delivered in about two days, while everyone is still talking about the wedding.
Compressed Raw Footage — $100. Everything we filmed, exported as four long files, one per camera.
Original Quality Raw Footage — $300. Every original file on a hard drive, organised by camera and by section of the day.
Additional Hours — $400 per hour.

The Instagram Edit is the one couples most often add. There is a real gap between the wedding and the finished film, and a two-day turnaround gives you something to share while the day is still fresh.

How to decide what you need

Start with the ceremony. If the vows and the speeches are the parts you would most want to watch again in twenty years, you want two videographers and the start-to-finish edit — which means Heirloom or Legacy. If what you want is a short, cinematic piece that captures the feeling of the day, Memoir does that beautifully and costs less.

The other question worth asking is who else will watch it. Grandparents who could not travel, friends abroad, children you have not had yet. A feature film is a different thing to sit down with than a three minute highlight, and couples who choose Legacy almost always cite that.
